Review of software anti-spam Open Source - ESVA Email Security Virtual Appliance (ESVA)

You are looking for a "(free of cost) Free and Easy" antispam? or spam blocker solution for your organization that supports multiple email domains?

Are your search for an anti-spam solution can be deployed in your production for less than 20 min environment?

esva Email Security Virtual Appliance (esva) is a solution? anti-spam created by Andrew MacLachlan since year 2005, based on free software. ESVA is a pre-built Virtual Appliance that runs on virtual machines. The latest version of ESVA can run on VMWare, run on Citrix XenServer and Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware platforms.

The evolution of the application was stop for almost 2 years to the day after the release of the 2058 version. I was so happy that the current version 2060 is not available. To download the latest version please visit official website of the ESVA GD.

The main components of the ESVA are:

CentOS - Red Hat cloned operating system robust
MailScanner - package anti-spam email gateway systems.
MailWatch - Web-based? admin page for MailScanner
Postfix email system - ?
SQLgrey - filtering Greylisitng
Webmin - Web-based? admin page CentOS and Postfix admin
ClamAV - anti-virus Open Source
Distributed Checksum centres of documentation (CDC) ? & Shaver Vipul - detection in bulk Spam Mail
Pyzor — Spam detection network
SpamAssassin? - well known spam packet filtering for header, text analysis ?, Bayesian, DNS you and filtering database filtering
FuzzyOCR - the content and properties of images of filtering based on logic fuzzy
MailGraph - Mail graphic statistics tools

Why use ESVA?

The advantage of using ESVA are:

Free cost.
robust system
accuracy of filtering.
domain and sender black-listing
domain and sender white list
report of quarantine and release (by user or domain)
easy to use and custom.

I deployed self-customized version of ESVA in our Datacenter since 2007 and it is always one of our best anti-spam solutions. Although the method of Bayesian filtering needs time to built on the database of SPAM or HAM. Overtime, ESVA on mail filtering becomes more efficient to make the distinction between ham and compare spam for some commercial products.

We have 2 units of ESVA deployed to layer2 our Datacenter to take more care of 500 domains and 10 000 volumes of e-mail to running time. Our ESVA is used for implementing quarantine email, anti-virus, analysis, fuzzy OCR and Bayesian filtering.

However, a few important features that I think that the author should include:-.

?No LDAP integration or SMTP authentication
No subject filter
No keyword filtering
Incorrect GIF and JPEG filter

Some of the aforementioned weakness can be solved by the customization of scripts. However, I need to understand the functionality of the package, and plug-in and the path of the file. Today, I am compiling FAQ and customizing the configuration and the hope that someone with ESVA can be benefit from it.

Nevertheless, ESVA is focused on free software the most powerful and most effective spam solution that I never deployed. It will certainly help your organization on spam issues. ?
