Everyone is always talking about which antivirus is better and how antivirus is better than another and so on. Well, here is an antivirus which no system resources, is free and better yet, everyone already has a copy!
The antivirus that I speak is better than anything else out there. It can detect any virus or malware threat as soon as it appears, uses any part of your computer is completely free and does not require that you download the Internet updates! You have had your life and use every day. What is it?
Common sense!
I hear people often talk about viruses and malicious software how they get. I, on the hand, keep my AVG anti-virus off much of the time and get very few viruses or malicious software. Instead, I use common sense. Here is an overview of how to use common sense as an anti virus.
1. I never download attachments of any unless I expect one. I usually Miss to much, either. Photos of aunt margin families have never interesting anyway.
2. I am always cautious before clicking on links in emails in places like Amazon, PayPal and Ebay that I do not expect. If I am very curious to know an email, I just find the topic on Google and I am capable of knowing whether or not it is a threat to security.
3. I use Firefox as my primary web browser. Internet Explorer has too many security holes. Although Firefox has security holes, they do not operate as Internet Explorer security holes are and are generally much more quickly corrected.
4. I note when my computer is unusual. If you frequently use your computer, you should know when it accesses the hard disk and what applications give you a high CPU utilization. If I have something out of the ordinary, always check my tasks for all unusual process manager.
5 Know what processes are generally running on your PC (press CTRL + ALT + DEL, and then click the process to see). You should memorize their, but be familiar with them. If you think that your computer is infected with a virus or an adware, you will usually see a process or two in the Manager of tasks that are not familiar. If uncertain of what a process is, the Google search to learn more about it.
6. If you are downloading things that cause the RIAA get upset, don't use clients such as Limewire, Grokster and Kazaa and WinMX P2P. The use of bittorrent, make sure that you read the comments of the torrent before downloading, make sure that there is no virus in it. If you need to absolutely stay with clients such as Limewire P2P, keep a second computer (it can be anything, even something ten years old) for the download of your files. Scan files for viruses before their travel to your main computer.
7. If you download something which, according to you, could contain a virus, always analyze the file with an antivirus before opening.
8. Do become not paranoid. The threat of viruses and malware is taken too seriously by many. Everyone should take precautions against viruses, there is not need to be a "virusphobe".
This guide is in no case be a substitution of an anti-virus. In fact, I strongly recommend that you use one. In addition, the best judges of what you need to take security measures is you. Each computer is different, so everyone has different security needs.
