How to prevent software viruses

A few weeks ago one of my uncles who had just had the habit of browsing the Internet was online around midnight. He saw some nice wallpapers and screensavers on a Web site which can be downloaded free of charge, so he decided to download for use on PC of his wife. But suddenly, after it has downloaded the elements to his Office, alerts virus began to burst it on its screen, telling him that his computer could have been infected by a virus. He panicked and called me, seek advice.

I thought it was something serious, I asked him to simply close the pop up Windows, then restart his computer, and then all that would be good. But after that he did everything I said and restarted, the problem persists, with more pop - ups appearing, slow PC and preventing them from performing the lesser work or surf at all. His task manager did not, and his whole computer freeze just unexpectedly at random times. He called me once again to aid, and ultimately, we have only managed to solve the problem by making a change and fresh installation of Windows.

With my experience in computers, I never realized that a computer may be infected simply by clicking on and the closure of the pop-up Windows. I always had the impression that a computer would only be infected by downloading and running malicious files or at least by clicking on the website links that direct you to suspicious sites. Go online to do research, I learned that this type of scam was not as rare as I thought. Many hackers use this type of scam to infect and disable the computers of the user, usually in conjunction with a fake antivirus software, who claim to be able to "fix" problems of your PC for just a small fee, when the truth is that the problems were caused by the virus itself. Be paid to correct a problem caused by yourself, what a rip-off! It's not surprising that these people are richer.

If the result, I fell on a Web site with some good advice solid on the way to avoid this kind of false antivirus scams. They have suggested keeping your computer constantly updated with the latest anti-virus and anti-spyware software, use a reliable good firewall mark (which not necessarily loved), avoid downloading freeware or shareware, unless it comes from a reliable source, or you know exactly what it contains, setting your browser security to a higher level settings and, above all, never click on pop-ups or advertisements that announce software antivirus or protection, especially those who promise to completely fix or accelerate your computer immediately. If a sound product too good to be true, it usually is!
