1. Open not e-mail attachments unless you know precisely what the attachment is. Your friend sending you an email is perhaps not fully aware of what is packaged with it. The attachment can be delivered with a computer virus or other harmful malware.
2. Enable Windows Update to download and install the latest updates automatically. To configure Windows Vista to automatically install updates, click Start > all programs > Windows Update > change settings > automatically install updates. Use the drop down menu to select the time to install the new updates.
3. Use not Internet Explorer. Instead use Firefox, Opera or Google Chrome. Hackers are more susceptible to attacks Internet Explorer because it is the most popular browser, and the highest amount of people would be affected.
4. Disable images in Outlook. Receipt of an infected email graphics may cause a virus. More recent versions of Microsoft Outlook will automatically disable the images in preview, but you can disable it by going to tools > Trust Center > tab automatic downloads.
5 Install firewall free software, which can be downloaded online. The most recent versions of Windows come with a firewall, but it cannot be turned on.
6. Have antivirus software installed and running. Antivirus software free of charge, such as AVG Anti-virus, is available for download online. Don't forget to update frequently.
7. Avoid using the file sharing programs. These programs allow you access to millions of files of other users computers. Users of the Internet with malicious intentions often attach malware of downloadable files. Music such as mp3 or wav files are targets by those who want to prevent the practice of "steal" popular music.
8 Perform daily scans. Even with an installed antivirus software, virus can slip through. By scanning your hard disk by day for threats, viruses can be more easily and quickly detected and removed.
9. Managed firewall. The most effective way to prevent viruses is a managed firewall with detection of intrusion and access penetration test us.
